My shitpile doesn't really want to start when it's cold out. I turn the key, it starts to turn over, everything powers up, it goes tsh tsh tsh tsh then dies and goes clunk. If I do that a few times (read 1 or 15) it'll finally start up. It's not a tick sound like when the starter is fubarred.

What causes this and what prevention can I do?

LOL Jeep.

F150 didn't like it this morning either. Starter tried to stick "on" even after engine caught.

Wait, are you saying that the motor turns over as usual but just does start? Does it sputter and then die? If the above is so, you may have something going on with a bad temp sensor and a connection to that sensor. The sensor plugged into the thermostat housing is the one the computer uses.
