Open Office software

I use LibreOffice, an offshoot of Open Office. LibreOffice has an "Export as PDF" option by default, and I assume Open Office does as well.

That's what I have on my Mint machine. I don't use it much since the machine is mostly email and web, but occasionally I want to look at a document and it does the job.

will open office save as or read the newer MS extensions? I know Libre Office will

sounds like perhaps this libre is the way to go.

Libre is definitely the way to go. I used to use Open Office but last I heard they have stopped updating and it is missing a few features Libre has.
