I've got both and the battery life seems better on the Paperwhite. I charge it every month or two.
As far as weight, I can't say because of the different covers I have on each.

The Paperwhite is far superior to the original and well worth the extra $'s.

Can't directly compare the two, but :wifey: has the paperwhite, and in the poor lighting conditions she normally has, it's terrific. Lately she has switched to using her IPad, though. :?:

Paperwhite is superior by far. No need for cover with built-in light like you needed to read in the dark with original. Perfect backlighting for reading in bed without disturbing mate.
