Sounds lovely. Had a friend that took a full moon hike into the canyon a few years back around this time. Quite a stunning site apparently. Something I'd like to try someday.

500mm isn't really that long of a reach IMO, but allows you to get closer to things before they move. This particular squirrel was letting me get kind of close because it was looking for a handout from the dumbass tourists that always feed the wildlife.
