I remember the first time I looked at the moon in a telescope. Being able to see it move really made an impression on me.
 
Handheld as in no support either? I don't believe you
Why? It's pretty easy to shoot the moon. it's not like it's moving..lol It's bright so you can even use a fast shutter speed and there is no reason not to hand hold it when you are using a lens with an image stabilizer...
