Atlas Shrugged II

:2stars: The movie was a big meh. They replaced all the actors from the first one and made poor choices in most all cases. Dagny (Samantha Mathis) was too old, and too big. Most all the actors were too flat. Diedrich Bader as Quentin the scientist? WTF? They did stay true to the story but that is the only really positive thing I could say. If you are a fan, then check it out on video.

Atlas Shrugged should definitely have been a mini-series in order to do the story justice and not go through all the changes from one to the next.

it was doomed to fail, reality is its philosphy which needs an audience but as a novel it wasnt very good, and often great novels make bad movies (breakfast of champions anyone?)

It would be an interesting mini series, but I can't imagine any of the networks picking up on it. Way too politically charged right now.

They actually did a good job adapting the movie to current day except for one major issue. Hank Rearden caves to the gov't bullies so he won't expose his affair with Dagny Taggart. In today's society an unmarried woman having an affair with a married guy is not big deal (unfortunately).

Major networks wouldn't pick it up, but there are so many good cable options that it would get airtime to most Americans- definitely a lot more than will go see the movies.
