Introducing JUOT Image Hosting

In order to keep high bandwidth images off the main server I have created a new site everyone can use if they choose.

Presenting - JUOT Image Hosting

http://juotpics.com/pics/

It is a free, basic, image host. Once you upload an image the first box of text is the code to paste into a forum, example:

http://juotpics.com/pics/images/609timecircuit.jpg

By default images uploaded will be public, that is, they can be "browsed" via the Gallery.

You can optionally mark an image as "Private" and in that case you would need the direct URL to view it.

A nice feature is you can upload from your local computer OR from a web link so it's a good quick way to copy an image from a site that doesn't allow hot-linking.

Let me know if you run into any issues.

I have put a link under "Quick Links."

As with the forum, no xxx porn is allowed to be hosted on the image hosting site.

I fixed the black background on transparent image thumbnails, now the backgrounds will be white where it used to be transparent.

The original file isn't edited.

Alan James- I have a 2MB limit right now for guests, that could be > 2 MB.

For members it is 5 Mb - that's fine the way it is. I can always log in if I want to upload a file that big.

Had a couple of issues whereby the juotpic reference was shown in a post but not the pic itself.

I had to "quote" he post then c&p the http link of the shortcut and post in a new tab to see the pic, then after tht the orig post was Ok (clearly having cached it)

Using FF 15.0a1 (2012-05-25) 64bit currently (aka Nightly) but it will update soon in case any of that is relevant

Probably someone posted it as a link instead of a image and went back and fixed it while you were reloading the page- there is no way to show an image as a link via an error with the image host- it's either an image or red x, never a link.

Or it was in a forum where I have the max image size set to 2 MB and anything above that becomes a link. Did it say "Large Image Link" or was the link just the URL of the file?

April 1st came and went a while back :rotflmao:
