Long term I'm sure it's worse, but every time I saw it, the car would barely run and have a CEL. Since it was usually a one time use the car was fine after flushing the fuel system. Customer would be charged for tow to dealer, diagnosis, fuel system flush and replacement gas. Probably doesn't happen much anymore, but back then gas was significantly cheaper in CO and it happened fairly regularly.
