As for the contest, to win post a link to the location in Google Maps, or location name (if applicable) or GPS coordinates. First person to post enough info that I am clear they found it WINS!

I will release hints over the course of the contest to make it easier.

It has sand, poor soil nutrients and/or desert conditions. Sod was placed near the parking lots at the bottom. With all that boat trailer parking, I would guess it is a check-in or visitor center for a state/national park on the water. That looks like a snippet of water in the upper left corner - fresh water without tidal influence. The tile roof says warm climate, but that could be a gov extravagance. Nothing there looks tropical. Looks foreign to me, so it is not eastern. My best guess is a dry region river/lake west of the Mississippi.

Well, you were sorta close. Not sure I'd categorize the top of Michigan as "west of the Mississippi" even though it technically is.

Well, you were sorta close. Not sure I'd categorize the top of Michigan as "west of the Mississippi" even though it technically is.
The Mississippi starts in Minnesota. Michigan is East of MN. No part of MI is to the west of the Mississippi.
