that's the hoopla.but at least it was free.
MintWhat distribution? What were you expecting? What do you want to do with it?
There is a learning curve....
JUOT is the output of a computer running Linux.I don't even think I've ever even seen a computer running Linux.
Ever seen an Android phone?I don't even think I've ever even seen a computer running Linux.
Depending on the distro you're using, you can get rid of 'most' of the bloat....especially if you don't need a GUI.Historically, Linux would make an older computer seem like it's running faster. Less bloat, less overhead. I'm not sure that's still the case as most distros are fairly bloated and no exactly screaming compared to modern Windows.
That defeats the purpose for most non-server consumer uses.Depending on the distro you're using, you can get rid of 'most' of the bloat....especially if you don't need a GUI.
Forgot about that. My work phone is android.Historically, Linux would make an older computer seem like it's running faster. Less bloat, less overhead. I'm not sure that's still the case as most distros are fairly bloated and no exactly screaming compared to modern Windows.

I suppose it does. That defeats the purpose for most non-server consumer uses.
Does anyone actually have those? I've kind of considered it but not enough to actually do it. I have the Steam controller (AWESOME, BTW) and run Steam on my Linux and Windows machines, but don't love it enough to try making a dedicated machine. Can't say I know anyone that has, although I'm sure those people exist.FWIW, Steam Machines, aka SteamOS, is Linux.
