I will look into that... Definitely prefer waterproof though. It will probably get splashed; that's a fact of life when sailing even in good weather. I intend to put a tether on it while it's above deck for those possible overboard situations.
I stumbled across this one - the mount could be promising. There are rails on which I could clamp it.

What part of "bluetooth speaker" is unclear? I don't want something that my phone is tethered to - that way if the damn thing goes over or gets smashed, my phone's nowhere near it. I want to be able to keep the phone down below and the speaker on deck.

Just got one of those last week, to use by the hot tub. Sounds pretty good, and has been splashed twice already.
