Half Life 2. It had to check into Steam before it would let you play the single player. It made me almost stab my ****ing computer.
What console were you able to play HL2 offline with? My point is that any console game that you can play offline can also be played offline on the PC.

Half Life 2, xbox 360 that has never been online :mrwave:

On PC, as soon as you install you have to join Steam, then update the game to the current patch level, then select "offline mode" - even then you only go a month before it forces you to update. After EVERY update "offline mode" has been disabled so you have to go online and re-enable it. If offline mode isn't on, it connects to the internet to check for updates and authorize your copy every time you launch it. This shit ain't new info - here's some discussion of it from 5 years ago.

Can I play Half-Life 2 without internet? - PC-Gaming - General

On 360 - buy the Orange Box, play HL2 and expansions for 5 years never needing an internet connection.

Interesting, though the majority of console games are light on the single player and focus primarily on multi-player.

Yeah, I hate that shit. I'm still a single player. Multi is fun sometimes, but I really prefer a good story to play through. The market for that is shrinking so I fast I may not have anything to play in five years :(

Same here. Most games, to me, are like interactive movies. I want a good story and enjoyable gameplay. I couldn't careless about online multiplayer...

Despite the massive suck of having to wait for their servers to come back online and despite the fact more than half the available options were blocked in the Beta- it was still fun... A couple of cities...

What I can tell with this version is you'll be using the bull-dozer a lot more than previous SimCitys... The city map is relatively small and buildings like schools, town halls, casinos have to grow physically to be upgraded. If it's just basic residential/commercial/industrial in the way they will automatically be removed by the act of placing an upgrade but roads or other specially placed buildings need bull-dozing.

As the city evolves you may not want as much industry or you may need to move industry to clear up pollution so you'll be doing a lot of demolishing.

Cities have resources like coal and oil too, you want to zone industry over those areas to tap into them.

I prefer Doritos to Cheetos, but I'd rather go with a quality Salt & Vinegar chip than a cheesy chip.

Better than you.

Couldn't tell you the last time I played a PC game. Played some lego pirates and Disney Universe with KEW on the PS3 though. Even console games always want to update and shit before you can play them even offline.

Paid $29.99 through Amazon after they cancelled my order then gave me a $5 credit and another $25 credit.

Like it thus far. Certainly will be addicting.
