She has an answer for "Do you believe in Ghosts / Aliens" but not Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster.

DON'T LEAVE US HANGING. HOW MUCH DAMN WOOD CAN THAT LITTLE FAWKER CHUCK?
First time she said something like "About 750 pounds" another time she said "a woodchuck would chuck all the wood he could chuck if he could chuck wood."

(Approximate quotes....)

Got an email she can do sports scores and next game times.

"Alexa, who won the chicago bulls game?" or "Alexa, when do the chicago bulls play next?"

She also has several responses for "Alexa, Live long as prosper."

Also notices she seems to answer to Alexi, the russian ambassador to the UN in House of Cards.

Got an email they've added traffic reports. You have to enter your start and destination addresses in the Echo app first though.

When I went to type in an address it is clear they auto-complete based on any address you've ever sent an Amazon package to... very cool, a little creepy.

Guess it is useful if you have one place you travel to a lot (work?) It doesn't appear you can tell her your destination- yet.

I asked her how to spell "cacciatore" and she said she couldn't answer the question. So I went to the app to see what she heard and sure enough she heard it exactly right:

How do you spell cacciatore?

So she just didn't want to answer it.:wtf:

I was shocked... I asked her to Wikipedia "Trials and tribble-ations" and sure enough she knew what I meant.

They've added Pandora.

Many of you have asked,
and we're excited to announce--Pandora is now available. Pandora offers a
catalog with over a million tracks. With 80 million monthly users and 50 billion
thumbs-up and thumbs-down to date, Pandora can help you discover and listen to
your favorite music--and now, it's all available on your Amazon Echo.

To
get started, enter your Pandora account information in the Amazon Echo App
(Settings > Music Services). Once connected, enjoy the music with the following
voice commands:

"Alexa, play a Pop station on Pandora"
"Alexa, create a
Pandora station for [band name]"
"Alexa, pause" or "Alexa, skip/next"
"Alexa,
thumbs up/down"

In addition, Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer
are now available via the sports scores and schedules feature. Try "Alexa, what
was the score of the Seattle Sounders game?" or "Alexa, when do the San
Francisco Giants play next?" Play ball!

If you are using the Android or Fire
operating system, be sure to install the latest version of the Amazon Echo app,
which supports Pandora.

As always, the Amazon Echo team looks forward to your
feedback via the Amazon Echo App and on social media (#AmazonEcho).

Mine is still a long way out:

Order placed
March 10, 2015

Arriving Wed, May 20 - Thu, Jun 4
Not yet shipped
I've been told people are getting faster ship dates if you go and change the shipping method to overnight, and then even if you change it back you keep the earlier shipping time.

Starting to work with wifi enabled lights and switches...

WeMo and Philips Hue
products now work with Amazon Echo.

You can now use Echo to switch on the
lamp before getting out of bed, turn on the fan or heater while reading in your
favorite chair, or dim the lights from the couch to watch a movie--all without
lifting a finger...or even raising your voice.

To get started, connect your
WeMo and Hue devices to your home Wi-Fi and name them in their respective app.
Then say, "Alexa, discover my appliances." After Echo's confirmation, you can
control your devices by voice.

Things to try:

* "Alexa, turn on the
hallway light"
* "Alexa, turn on the coffee maker"
* "Alexa, dim the living
room lights to 20%"
* "Alexa, turn on the electric blanket"
* "Alexa, turn on
the outdoor decorations"

Way cool. I've kinda-sorta wanted to get into home automation for a while, but I haven't been impressed enough with the control systems to make the plunge. Insteon, X10, z-wave... Either expensive or questionable reliability. Never heard of WeMo or Hue (been several years since I looked into it), but I may have to check these out.

I've been wondering when they'd tie its functionality to a product to make you want to buy stuff, and there it is.
